What is triLift?

triLift by Lumenis is a non-surgical treatment that combines Dynamic Muscle Stimulation (DMSt), which is intended for conditioning healthy facial muscles, with radiofrequency (RF) energy to help tighten the skin. There are no incisions and no injections. The micro-needling step uses ultra-thin electrodes that deliver radiofrequency energy into the skin. At your consultation, Dr. Shusko will review your goals and your health history and explain whether treatment is appropriate for you.

How It Works

Dynamic Muscle Stimulation (DMSt)

Gentle electrical pulses contract the facial muscles to condition them.

Radiofrequency (RF)

Controlled heat is delivered to the skin to help tighten it.

RF Microneedling

Fine electrodes deliver RF energy to the skin.

Who May Be Considered

triLift may be considered if you:

  • Notice changes in facial contour or mild to moderate skin laxity
  • Want a non-surgical option without injections
  • Prefer a treatment with little to no downtime

A consultation is required to confirm candidacy.

Who Should Not Be Treated

triLift is not appropriate if you:

  • Have a pacemaker, defibrillator, or other implanted electronic device
  • Have metal implants in the treatment area
  • Are pregnant or nursing, or are under 18
  • Have a serious illness such as cancer, lupus, uncontrolled diabetes, or an uncontrolled seizure disorder
  • Have an impaired immune system or take immunosuppressive medication
  • Have a skin disorder or lesions in the treatment area
  • Have a bleeding or vascular disorder
  • Form keloids or heal poorly
  • Have taken Accutane (isotretinoin) within the past six months
  • Have tattoos or permanent makeup in the treatment area

Other situations, such as a history of cold sores, medications or supplements that affect skin healing, a recent tan, or recent surgery, laser, or peel, are reviewed at your consultation.

What to Expect

  • Visit length: about 45 to 60 minutes.
  • Course of treatment: typically a series of 5 sessions spaced 1 week apart, with maintenance as needed.
  • Comfort: You will feel warmth and muscle contractions, which are adjusted for comfort.
  • Downtime: Minimal, there may be some redness that fades rapidly after the treatment.
  • Results: Results are seen at the first treatment session and improve with additional sessions.

Possible side effects: Side effects are uncommon and usually temporary. They can include skin redness, swelling, bruising, itching or irritation, and mild breakouts. Rarely, treatment can cause burns or blisters, changes in skin color, scarring, or fragile skin. People with darker skin tones may have a higher risk of color changes, and Dr. Shusko may recommend a skin-care plan before or after treatment. Report any unusual or lasting reaction to our office right away.
